It's for everyday thinking, for solving any problem. A good read for a new year.

A flawless Superhero Dr. Goldratt comes here.

Well, beside the one side winning story, that bothers me from rating this book full stars, it has a lot of hint to think things clearly. Interesting and practical. Good read to start a new year. May 20, Adam rated it liked it. This book is really, quite poorly written and thought out for what it is proclaiming to provide.

For someone who is not in manufacturing and has only read The Goal there was so much potential for the book to be a huge hit. I went through the chapter notes at the end of the book twice and got twice as much out of it as anywhere This book is really, quite poorly written and thought out for what it is proclaiming to provide.

I went through the chapter notes at the end of the book twice and got twice as much out of it as anywhere else. With that said, it had just enough where I think the author has some amazing ideas. It sucks that I have to slog through the terrible organization and methods to get those ideas into any applicable use for my non MBA background.

Mar 12, Carlos rated it liked it. Second reading after being much more involved in Theory of Constraints projects. Here's my blog entry.

I recommend this book, it gives a fresh look at your thinking process and how you follow the path from a root cause to a consequence of the decision.

That book explored the tools, this book explores the mindset required to best leverage the tools. Worth a read for any TOC students.

I had loved the book at that time, but still felt that the book was a bit heavy for my liking and understanding. Over the next four years my understanding of the subject increased, and I had made my mind to revisit this book some day. A couple of months back, the book "The Goal" was released in Marathi language in the city of Pune and Mumbai. During the book launch at Pune, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Eliyahu Goldratt's childr I had read this book for the first time at least 4 - 5 years ago.

Apart from the book launch ceremony, there were beautiful presentations from Rami What we can learn from History - related to Inertia and Efrat Layers of Resistance to Change.

That day itself, I had made my mind that the next book that I read would be "The Choice" which was written by Eliyahu Goldratt and co-authored by Efrat. A beautiful book that explains about different solutions of TOC and more importantly, about the Thinking Processes and how to bring clarity in thinking. The book is written in Question - Answer format in which Efrat asks her father some questions, to which her father, Eliyahu, shows her the direction in which she can find an answer, again in form of other thought provoking questions, in a Socratic approach; and the way Efrat understands the answers to the question she was asking by following a well led path, which forms the gist or soul of Theory of Constraints.

A must read book for TOC enthusiasts Ich mochte das nicht sehr.

The book is essentially about having a full life and the ways to go about achieving that and the barriers one needs to overcome and watch out for. Here he lays out his methodology of thinking, his fundamental system of beliefs. Some of my classmates who were specializing in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, swore by h Eli Goldratt really challenged some of my long held assumptions with some of his ground breaking insights.

Some of my classmates who were specializing in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, swore by him and read his books like The Goal, Theory of Constraints and so on more seriously than the syllabus and there were one or two who read all his books. But somehow I wasn't able to bring myself to read Eli, until a friend mentioned this book to me which spoke about a topic close to my heart - living a full life.

The book is in the format of a dialogue between Eli and his daughter Efrat. And what makes the book even more useful from a practical standpoint is the appendix where there are summaries and summaries of summaries in the form of logical maps. A wonderful read that I have no doubt at this point will have far reaching implications for the way I will approach life from this point onwards.

Eli continues to stimulate along with a number of other Jewish authors who I've thoroughly enjoyed reading over the years including Viktor Frankl, Harold Kushner, David Denby and Mitch Albom. A brilliant, brilliant read especially if you're a fan of Eli's and certainly if you have a theoretical or practical interest in Supply Chain Management or in life itself Jul 11, Kanti Brahma rated it really liked it. Thank you Eliyahu for book and lessons. Excellent conclusion to Goldratt's oeuvre My rating and review is heavily biased by Goldratt's earlier books, which I found incredibly transformative when taken as a group. This book would be unremarkable standing on its own.

But knowing how it relates to the theory of constraints, that this way of thinking and living goes much deeper than manufacturing or making products or business, makes this book a kind of meditative epilogue to the whole series.

Sep 06, Victor Kryvenko rated it it was amazing. Oct 29, Arvind Srinivasan rated it liked it Recommended to Arvind by: A good book that does not keep talking things for long, keep it short and sweet. It not only gives tips to make choices but as well gives some examples on how to implement it in some situation. Toward the end I felt it some what drifted towards people management but never the less it could give out the crux of what the aim of the book is.

Between three and four star, but based on other fours that I have given just going with three for this: Sep 23, T rated it really liked it. This is one book of Eliyahu Goldratt. But thanks to my father, I finally managed to get to this one as well. This one is not as interesting or conceptual as some of this other books. But he does provide some interesting business examples from his real life consulting assignments and uses them to illustrate the general thinking process that can help not only in consulting assignments but generally in life as well.

This is not a '8 ways to' or '5 simple techniques to' kind of book. In 'The Choice' everything that is explained is completely based on real life business problems and their proper solutions. The managers', the suppliers' and the retailers' perspectives and their attitudes - all aspects are very well addressed. One can gain a lot from this book.
