The last is the Smart phone wave present , where e-commerce has gained a major prominence. There was a time when it was speculated that Internet would dislodge every industry from every corner of the world. There were myriad number of Internet companies who had gone public during later stages of the Internet wave.

What finally happened? The dot com bubble resulted in nosediving of stock value, thereby companies ended up making huge losses. During the Globalization wave, there were influx of money flowing inside , pumped by investors. The primary reason is increase in price which is spread by word of mouth publicity and thereby amplifying stories, which justifies the price increase. Albeit , some investors do have doubts regarding price value but still plunged into it.

There are also instances where the investors after initial investments were exterminated. Those were the testing times, where few newbies survived and most just vanished from the scene. In the later years , these grew in leaps and bounds. Apart from companies no technological ventures that were funded during the globalization wave had gone public. Also none of the companies were acquired by any public company for any reasonable amount.

Kicking ass and taking names: a book review (and then some) of Kashyap Deorah’s 'The Golden Tap'

More investment was promised but the investors itself disappeared. Deep Kalra then bootstrapped the company in It helped him to build the real funding team and the company.

Our suggestions are not meant to be exhaustive, but merely to serve as a starting point for a discussion about security among the radical left. The first strategy is to deconstruct the ideas behind the current practices of security. We need to develop a political imaginary that goes beyond equating security with exclusion and violence.

More concretely, we need to develop ways in which immigrants, Roma people, poor and homeless people or people from different territories or cultures are not seen as threats to our identity and property.

This implies of course getting rid of deeply ingrained discriminatory ideas such as racism, nationalism, sexism, ableism, homophobia and so on. The exclusionary mechanisms of capitalist and fascist security work by creating hierarchies — between those who need protection and those who are the threat.

We need to go beyond these hierarchies and fight continuously against the discourses and practices that enforce permanent authorities.

Stability and comfort do not need to be reinforcing the status quo. Moreover, the discourse of private property also needs to be deconstructed. Private property implies a boundary and a hierarchical relationship between those who have and those who do not.

We could at least re-think the terms in which these relationship work. There is much to say about private property and security, so we will limit ourselves to suggesting that these terms should be discussed and deconstructed. The second complementary strategy stems from our argument that the need for security should be taken seriously.

It is necessary to form structures that offer security — with the non-violent and non-exclusionary meanings that we mentioned earlier.

Security can be practiced with a sense of solidarity for the less privileged, with an understanding of the background social conditions that lead to violence and fear.

Priority should be given not to punishment and reprisal, but to emotions and community support. There are already many examples of how this could work — examples of communities that take care of their own safety and protection, in the absence of the capitalist state. We need to understand the ways in which these arrangements work, and to learn from their mistakes. We could at least start discussing about these things.

The antifascist struggle is not fought just by throwing stones at the skinheads, but it needs constant effort, organization and imagination.

Groups like the Golden Dawn will not disappear without people coming together in solidarity and fighting against all forms of alienation that this system is creating.

It implies solidarity and community in the face of disasters. And it is the exact opposite of the exclusion and violence that the Golden Dawn advocates.

We mean all this and much more. According to E.

I took another sip of that wine as he got my need to be further explained like a four year old. He explained that the recent startup phenomenon — big funding, large valuations, foreign money, ruthless burn, negative margins, import of US and Chinese models — had created a sense of hopelessness and inadequacy among entrepreneurs.

They had read stories about these companies, got mesmerized by how much money they were raising, and got curious to study these businesses, so as to learn from them. But when they took a closer look, they saw more things that were wrong than right.

Like me, his son and many others we knew had returned from the US to do business in India. Then there were entrepreneurs who never took a job or went abroad, but instead stayed back to build businesses at home.

Give them hope.

However, the more authentic narrative of the book is the story of entrepreneurship, its failures, emotions, thrills and life-changing moments. That story cuts across the flavors of entrepreneurship and seems more enduring.

Yes, the book provokes strong sentiment around copycat hyper-funded startups and how they came to be, but that is merely a byproduct of the ringside commentary of what happened. However, the reason why I wrote this book is because I had a story to tell. A story that entrepreneurs can relate to. I wanted to convey — in a form that no other medium could — my own perspectives about entrepreneurship from the time that I first started as a teenager.Whenever it comes to write about something which has conflict of interest with author, he gets too emotional.
