The Body Finder is one of the rare exceptions because I hated this book so much I just need to — and I mean need to - a warn my great Goodreading friends to stay away b , get this piece of work out of my mind for good and c vent.

But just a little bit. Beyond ordinary, beyond boring and beyond awkward. Because despite her bold words about doing it herself, it was all just a bluff.

I don't do hypocrites. Like, really, come on.

That friend, in this case her town, would be better off attempting to cut down the tree with the knife as opposed to risking the safety of everyone with the stupid chain saw. And because Violet was incapable of knowing her gift and she was still stupid enough to go forth with her plan to hunt the hunter, she was openly and willingly putting Jay, her beloved at risk.

In her debut work, Derting [End Page ] manages to pack a haunting mystery full of plenty of red herrings and creepy encounters, seamlessly interweaving the classic whodunit story with a steamy romance involving a drop-dead gorgeous knight in shining armor.


The book occasionally shifts to provide the killer's perspective, offering a disturbing, albeit compelling, portrayal of evil while creating palpable dramatic tension as Violet's brushes with the murderer become more and more frequent.

Though Violet herself is rather nondescript, her relationship with Jay is both sweetly tender and lustfully intense, offering a nice reprieve to the darker aspects of the story. Access options available:.
